Google Gives All SF Homeless Free Phone Number, Voicemail

Today, Google announced that every single homeless person in San Fransisco would be given a free, life-long phone number and voicemail.
Homeless people will be able to call from any phone to their own voicemail and retrieve messages. Individuals will be provided with a phone number that they can begin giving doctors, social workers, and potential employers. Most importantly, family members will have a way to contact and leave messages for their loved ones who they may have had difficulty contacting before.
This new program is also discrete. No indication is given to a caller that the voicemail is part of a program for homeless people.
Kudos to Google for doing something amazing and giving back to their community in the Bay Area. Something as small as a voicemail account may very well change lives.
